Estrella War XXII

This has -nothing- to do with the house. If you're looking for anything house-related.. wait until after the warm afterglow of a good vaction has worn off.

Marc and I participate in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). That is a non-profit organization promoting the study and recreation of pre-1600 western Europe. The group was founded in 1966 and is world-wide. We have events almost every weekend.

This last week (Feb. 14-Feb. 20) we attended Estrella War XXII in Phoenix Arizona US. From the war website:
A “War” in SCA terms is a larger (attended) event usually with more than one Kingdom (political boundary) invited to attend. Estrella War is an annual event that takes place each February in the state of Arizona, (the Kingdom of Atenveldt, SCA). At Estrella War the goal is to depict a Medieval Village in arts, tournaments, mock battle, ambiance, and pageantry. All are welcome to attend but are asked to please make an attempt at “Period” costume.

Technorati, Tags and Heirachy

I'm new to the world of blogging but not new to web design and programming.

I've poked at Movabletype for a couple months and today is the first time I've found something I wanted to do that didn't have an "official" fix. I finally had to apply a hack to get MT to do what I want.

That could be because I'm still mostly unfamliar with the application.. but I wanted to document what I did.. in case I ever need to reverse it.

Technorati and Blogsome

Because I'm a -huge- geek I did some research into Shauna's question about Blogsome and Technorati. Standard disclaimer: I'm no expert.. I just have unchecked need to know.

Shauna said:
That is very kewl. I've been trying to futz with my site for Technorati as well, but under my free host (Blogsome, which has a server-side, limited version of Wordpress), it's not going so well. I am completely baffled by the coding involved in getting stuff to work.

Because, as mentioned, I'm a -huge- geek I setup a test blog on Blogsome to figure out how to get it working with Technorati.

Hanky Panky

Anne over at Minor Adjustments asked for "tried-and-true party recipes that DON'T involve dip". Unfortunately Blogger is being a pill and won't let me comment (it's not anti-me.. it seems to be anti-everyone. Anne? Might need to poke at it).

Anyway, we had a barbecue this weekend and I made Hanky Pankies.. and they don't involve dip.. and they get raves. So here's the recipe.

For interesting variation.. if you "accidentally" add 1 Tbsp hot pepper flakes instead of 1tsp hot pepper flakes these are very very hot instead of just very hot.

Not at all house related... but,

Last Saturday Marc proposed to me... and I said yes.
